The world’s best divers are coming to the FINA Diving World Cup from October 20-23 in Berlin. This is especially true for the athletes from China, who have dominated the international scene for many years. At the past ten World Championships and Olympic Games since 2009, the Chinese won a total of 89 gold medals – all other nations together have 17. At this year’s World Championships in Budapest (HUN), China even succeeded in winning all 13 diving titles diving. The FINA Diving World Cup now provides a rare opportunity to see this kind of perfection in Germany.

Tokyo winner Wang Zongyuan won three gold medals at the World Championships (from 1m, 3m and in 3m Synchronized); Chen Yiwen as well as the two female Olympic champions Quan Hongchan and Chen Yuxi, were successful twice at the World Championships. And Cao Yuan won Olympic gold in various disciplines each time at three consecutive Summer Games from 2012 to 2021.

The Chinese aces who will be in Berlin also include the reigning world champions Chang Yani (3m synchronized), Yang Hao, Lian Junjie (both 10m Synchronized) and Yang Jian (10m). The latter, by the way, has been good friends with the German diver Timo Barthel for years, and both are now looking forward to a reunion in the German capital.
